Bonnie Worley Carnley

Mrs. Bonnie Worley Carnley, 99, of Graceville, Florida, entered into her Heavenly home on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. Bonnie, a beautiful blue eyed little girl was born on Feb 27, 1925, as the 12th child of Bunk Worley, and the oldest of 5 children of her mom, Ida Worley. She was faced with many obstacles at a very young age. At the age of seven, she was left to help raise her three siblings after her mom passed away in childbirth. Bonnie has had her sad times and her glad times. Born during the depression she has seen her share of hard times. She often told stories of how she had to get in a chair for her dad to teach her how to make biscuits. Who could count the number of biscuits this lady has made? Her life history would make a wonderful book, but she was always too busy living life and raising her family to write about it. Bonnie met the love of her life, Festus Carnley, when she was 21 and they were married in 1946. They moved to Columbus, Georgia soon after and worked in the cotton mills. This was not the life for them, and they quickly moved back to Holmes County and bought a small farm, where they lived out their life and raised their family. Her family was her life. She lavished so much love and wisdom on them through the years. Her children and grandchildren have a legacy that will last forever. Bonnie never worked a public job after she had her children. She often would say that she could have had more material things had she worked but she never regretted being at home for her kids. This allowed her children to have a lifetime of precious memories. A fond memory shared by all her children was the joy of coming home every day from school with their mother waiting for them. They could smell the tea cakes or supper cooking before they ever reached the back door. Many of you here today are a testament to the wonderful cook she was! In 1952, Bonnie began a relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was the oldest living member of Little Rock Assembly where she served for over 72 years. She served as Sunday School teacher, Women’s leaders, Vacation Bible school worker and the absolute best prayer warrior. Through the years, Bonnie has nursed many sick people back to health. She has scrubbed numerous floors, cooked endless dinners, wrapped hundreds of gifts, heard a ton of excuses and prayed countless prayers. Her arms have rocked many babies and her knees have knelt in prayer time and time again. Her back bent to bathe three dirty little girls and one little farmer boy. Her kisses soothed many bumps and bruises. Her feet walked many miles. Her hands picked many vegetables. Bonnie along with her life long soul mate and partner, worked to instill good morals, family values and a Christian background into their children and grandchildren which will live on for generation after generation. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Festus Carnley and son-in-law Hollie Fowler. She was also preceded in death by her 15 siblings. She is survived by her children, Patricia Fowler (Robert), Shirley Owens (Howard), Elaine Kinser (David) and Lavon Carnley. Grandchildren, Jason Jones, Jennifer Le, Howie Owens, Chris Owens (Shianne), Dr. Sherie Mitchell (Kris), Karen Rustin (Darryl), Cheryl Thompson, twelve great grands, Anna Burleson (Jerry) AnaBelle Jones, AnaGrace Jones, AnaLeise Jones, Austin Owens, Chase Owens, Wesley Owens, Haley Graham, Rylee Graham, Kristian Mitchell, Shelby Wasson (Lucas), Blayne Rustin (Samantha) ,7 great great grands and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A Home-going service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Little Rock Assembly of God Church with Bros. Joe Earnest, John Broome and Chris Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home directing. Family will receive friends at the church, Sunday, 12:30 p.m. until time of the service.
