Charles "Dan" Daniel Barrios

Charles Daniel “Dan” Barrios found his lasting peace on August 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of his wife, family, and friends. There are many things that can be said of him, but above all, Dan was a good man. He worked hard all his life. As a child he helped his dad in his family’s restaurant, Tino’s Pizza. As an adult he was an accomplished welder. However, Dan loved the road, and he enjoyed seeing new places, so as a truck driver for over 30 years, he was able to do just that. Dan was fiercely intelligent. He could hold a conversation on almost anything and had several opinions on politics and how this country should be run. But Dan solidly earned those opinions, having served his country in the Navy from 1981to 1987. However, what defined him was his desire to help others and his capacity to love. There wasn’t one person who went to him for help that didn’t receive it. Whether it was a stranger who asked for a hand or close friends who needed their car fixed, Dan would always do what he could. Above all though, he loved. From his animals to his family, he spoke of them warmly. But his greatest love was that for his wife, Avis. And the greatest way he showed her that love was just by letting Avis be Avis. Dan was a huge presence, and most certainly, he will be greatly missed. Dan was proceeded in death by his parents, Tino and Ruth Barros. He is survived by his wife, Avis Barrios, and their children, Tabitha Register and her husband, Matt, and Stanley Creamer, and his wife, Crystal. Their grandchildren, Brandi Taylor and her husband, Eli, Lexi Register, Morgan Burkett, and her husband, Avery, Waylon Creamer, and Lawson Creamer. Their great grandchildren, Cypress Burkett, and Wesley Taylor. His sister, Rita Cowen, and brothers, Chuck, Chris, David, and Jimmy Barrios. And two friends who became like family, Britney and Deana Caudill. Dan will be remembered at a visitation for friends and family at 10 AM (CDT), Monday, August 10, 2026, at the Chapel of James & Lipford Funeral Home with a service and Military Honors by the U. S. Navy at 11 AM (CDT), with Bro. Brian Taylor officiating. A private graveside service will follow at Damascus Baptist Church for the immediate family with James & Lipford Funeral Home directing.
