Eloise Caraway, 80 of Slocomb, AL, (Fadette Community) passed away Saturday, September 11, 2010 at her residence surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer. Ms. Eloise was born in Houston County, Alabama on January 4, 1930 to the late Claudious and Rosie Sharron Baxley Kirkland. A beloved, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Ms. Eloise retired following 25 years as a Assistant Activities Director with Jackson County Convalescent Center. She loved life, but more importantly she loved serving others. Knowing all aspects of country life, she was devoted to her yard work and gardening. Preceded in death by an infant son Jeffrey Lynn Caraway, four brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her beloved husband Harold Caraway of Slocomb, six children Donald Caraway (Joyce) of Georgetown, TX, Ann Kremer (Larry) of Slocomb, Ronald Caraway(Diane) of Conyers, GA, Harry Caraway(Debbie) of Rock Hill, S.C., Beverly Whatley(Page) of Rehobeth, AL, Phillip Caraway(Bhabygie) of Banner Elk, N.C.; brother Nathan Kirkland(Katrean) of Graceville; sister Carolyn Spears of Montgomery, AL; four sisters-in-law Christine Phillips(John) of Graceville, Betty Wright(Scottie) of Ferriday, LA, Helen Finch of Crestview, FL, Sarah Habbard of Niceville, FL; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, September 13, 2010 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Revs. George Chestnut and Jerry Tanton officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville directing. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Much appreciation to Melissa Dean and Alacare Hospice, Dr. Charles Soppet and staff Dothan Hematology and Oncolgy.
