Rev. Albert Hodge

May 23, 1926 - February 23, 2014

Rev. Albert J. Hodge, 87, entered his Heavenly Home on Sunday, February 23, 2014. Bro. Hodge was born in Athens, TX on May 23, 1926 to the late William Frank and Matilda Blann Hodge. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1944 and was part of the first wave of the invasion of Iwo Jima with the Seabees attached to the Marines. After his military service, Bro Hodge was called into the ministry. He graduated from Southwestern Bible College in Waxahachie, TX and has served churches in Texas, Oklahoma and Florida over the past 69 years. Until his death he served as volunteer Chaplain of the prison ministry at the Graceville Correctional Facility, a ministry dear to his heart. His current church home is Graceville First Assmbly of God. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at the First Assembly of God in Graceville with Revs. Joe Earnest and Dewey Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Marvin Chapel Cemetery with military honors by the U. S. Navy, James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville directing. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Flowers accepted or those wishing may make memorials to the Graceville First Assembly of God 5565 Brown Street Graceville, FL 32440. Survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Joyce M. Hodge; two daughters Shara Cowan(Jim), Douglasville, GA, Sandy Williams(Ron), Sugar Hill, GA; two grandchildren Brian Cowan, Austin, TX, Courtney Thomas, Cumming, GA; one great granddaughter Aislyn Thomas; sister-in-law Gayola Morrow, Vian, OK; brother-in-law Olly Bass, Athens, TX; several nieces and nephews.
