Agnes Barfield

Agnes Williams Barfield, age 96 of Graceville, Florida entered her eternal home on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Campbellton-Graceville Hospital. Mrs. Agnes was born March 22, 1918 to the late C. A. "Bud" and Estelle Womble Williams. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Mrs. Agnes was known for her giving spirit. She loved sharing her delicious chicken and rice, pound cakes, and banana pudding at church and family events. She enjoyed gardening, sharing veggies and her "delectable" squash relish. Taught to quilt by her grandmother and mother at an early age, she enjoyed making quilts for family and close friends. She was keenly interested in the election process and was a Jackson County Poll Worker for many years. In years past, she was actively involved as a Sunday School/Bible School Teacher, community projects and fund-raisers. Mrs. Agnes was a graduate of Graceville High School, Class of 1940, and a long time member of Damascus Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband Alfred Jack Barfield, five brothers William Henry "Bill" Williams, Ralph Williams, Lincoln Williams, Arthur Williams, infant brother, five sisters Docia O'Shields, Emma Armour, Audrey Register, Sarah Grace Sizemore, Lottie Horne; great-great grandson Jon-Ryan Covington. Survived by her loving children Mary Jones (Johnny), Graceville, Olene Harris (Larry), Marianna, Roy F. Barfield (Wendy), Rushville, IN; brothers-in-law James Horne, Clyde Armour, Lloyd Barfield, Clyde Barfield; sisters-in-law Pat Barfield, Midge Barfield, and in-laws Jim and Thelma Barfield Greer; seven grandchildren Greg Jones(Cheryl), Susan Jones Covington, Staci Jones Yongue(Randy), Lorie Harris Nable(Greg) Larry Joe Harris, Jr.(Linda), Kevin Harris(Brandi), Kimberly Barfield Martin(Norman); Fifteen grandchildren: Rachel, Adam, Joseph, Sarah, Daniel, Jordan, Bailey, Tyler, Ashlen, Garrett, Jesse, Cianna, Hailey, Harley, Natalie; a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Damascus Baptist Church with Dr. Paola Bass, Revs. Chester Padgett, Brian Taylor and Johnny Jones officiating. Burial will follow in New Home Cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville directing. Family will receive friends Saturday at the church 12 p.m. until time of service.
