Evelyn Jeanette Floyd Smith

Evelyn Jeanette Floyd Smith, 86, of Middleburg, Florida, formerly of the Bethlehem Community in Holmes County, Florida, entered her heavenly home on January 16, 2026. Jeanette was born to the late Henry Herbert Floyd and Elsie B. Jones Floyd on May 20, 1939. A Poplar Springs High School Class of 1957 graduate, she married the love of her life, Forbie Lee Smith, on July 23, 1956. She retired as a bookkeeper at Orange Park Assembly of God Church after 37 years of service. She was an active member of Christian Faith Center in Middleburg, Florida. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she enjoyed gardening, traveling, and visiting. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She loved giving to others and had a generous heart. Her kindness and compassion touched many lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Jeanette lived a life rooted in faith and was a devoted follower of Christ. We rejoice in the promise of eternal life and are assured this is only her beginning. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Forbie Lee Smith; one daughter, Margorie Denise Smith; two sisters, Glenda Faye Simmons and Opal Annette Stewart; and one great-grandson, Zayne Hunter Underwood. Jeanette is survived by her two daughters, Renea Chambliss (Henry) and Lisa Settle, both of Fleming Island, Florida; four grandchildren, Christy Elder, Stacey Hobson (Matt), Sarah Settle, and Lee Settle (Kristin); six great-grandchildren, Shelby (Connor), Ryan, Parker, Cooper, Palmer, and Lennon; one great-great-grandson, Oliver; one brother, Carlton Floyd (Judy); one sister, Mary Loyed, both of Dothan, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Homegoing service will be held at 11:00 a.m. (CST) on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Graceville First Assembly of God Church, with Rev. Mark Sellers officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church cemetery, with Rev. Mark Sellers, Rev. Eddie Littlefield, and Rev. Thomas Harrison officiating. James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville is directing. Family will receive family and friends on Saturday from 10 a.m. (CST) until the time of service.
