Larry Sewell

Carl Larry Sewell, 82 of Graceville, Florida, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 1st, 2023, at Northwest Florida Community Hospital. Larry (Nub) was born in Houston County, Alabama on May 10th, 1941, to Carl and Ressie Sewell. He grew up taking care of the family farm in Fadette, Alabama with his brothers and sisters. Larry graduated from Slocomb High school in 1959. Shortly after, he joined the National Guard in 1962 and served for 6 years. After working at Graceville Oil for a number of years, Larry purchased his own service station, Tri-County Oil and Tire. He owned and operated the station for 25 years with a generous heart helping many in the community. Physical work and helping others brought him great joy. Larry never turned a blind eye to someone in need. Larry was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Graceville where he served through lawn care, transportation maintenance, and was a part of the building and grounds committee. Larry married his sweetheart Janie Pelham on September 28th of 1963 and devoted his life to loving his family 60 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing, and watching football and baseball. Many afternoons you could find Larry sitting in his carport talking with his friends. Larry kept himself busy with projects at his house and the farm where he could build almost anything. Most of all Larry cherished his family, his time reading scripture, and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Mansil Sewell, Eugene Sewell, and Ken Sewell. He is survived by his loving wife Janie, his sister Laverne McGriff (Robert), children, Angie Sewell Jernigan (Chris) and John Larry Sewell (Janice); Grandchildren, John Walker (Ashley), Mary-Roselyn Jernigan, Lauralyn Sammons (Evan), and Jackson Jernigan; and Great Grandchildren Kylien and Sylar. The visitation will be held at The First Baptist Church of Graceville on Sunday, November 5th, 2023, at 1:00 PM (CST). The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM (CST), with a graveside service afterward at Marvin Chapel Cemetery in Graceville.
