Phoebe Moore Murrell

Phoebe Moore Murrell, 77, ran into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Monday, September 23, 2024. Phoebe was born on March 11, 1947, in Clewiston, Florida to the late Rev. John Alexander Moore and Julia Munn Moore. She graduated from J.H. Rose High School in Greenville, North Carolina. Following high school, she continued her education at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina and then at Southwest Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, where she received her master’s degree. Much of her life was working as the Librarian at Cottondale Elementary School until her retirement. Phoebe was an avid reader that loved romance and mysteries as well as a very skilled quilter. She stitched many beautiful quilts for her family and friends. Phoebe was a member of First Baptist Church of Graceville, where she was very active in the women’s, children's, and mission’s Ministries. She was also a member of the Friends of the Library where she enjoyed volunteering anytime and anywhere, she was needed. She loved collecting Nutcrackers, and she would pretend each Christmas that she did not want another to add to her collection, although a new one would be added every single Christmas. She was a wonderful "MiMi" to her grandchildren and an amazing doggy mom to her maltipoo Maggie. In addition to her parents, Phoebe is preceded in death by her beloved husband Irvin Henry Murrell, Jr. She is survived by her son Irvin Henry Murrell III "Trey" of Rogersville, TN and wife Courtney Murrell, three grandchildren Aidan Jeremiah Murrell, Lillian Ruth Murrell, and John Alexander Murrell "JohnAlex", two brothers Rev. Stephen Moore (Jean), Asheboro, North Carolina, Philip Moore (Karen), Thompsons Station, Tennessee, six nephews their spouses and children. Funeral services will be 10 AM (CDT), Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Graceville with Dr. Naethan Hendrix, Pastor, and Rev. Stephen Moore officiating. Grandson Aidan Moore will read scripture. Burial will follow in Marvin Chapel Cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home of Graceville directing. The family will receive friends 4 PM until 6 PM (CDT), Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at the First Baptist Church.
